Self-directed Learning: Labor Day Series

Introduction to Self-directed Learning

CorePlanner was designed in mind with the teacher at the center of attention. As teachers ourselves, we wanted to get ahead of the curve by learning the Core on our own when they first rolled out, a long time ago back in 2010.

Yet, even before that, we became enthusiastic about the Standards-Based movement around 1997. With a little bit of extraordinary fortune, we found a few willing computer programmers to help us create a tool to help teachers get a jump on the standards by creating best practices by matching their own instruction with the new standards.

We start with a broad overview of self-directed learning from The International Encyclopedia of Education.
